Advocacy Volunteer

Do you like talking to people about current bicycling issues? We need active advocates to assist with the promotion of pro-bike legislation during the short and fast paced legislative session. You can assist by contacting legislators, obtaining support from business, government and community leaders, performing research and increasing grass roots support and promotion of state level pro-bike legislation. The volunteer role includes:

  • Develop relationships with legislators
  • Perform research (draft bill language)
  • Develop fact sheets and gather data (where does law already exist?)
  • Educate government leaders (i.e. MDOT)
  • Hearing support, verbal and written testimony

Bike-Minded Safety Program Volunteer

Volunteers assist with free Youth and Adult Bicycle Safety Workshops, teaching, demonstrating safety techniques and are a vital resource for any successful workshop. Experience is not necessary. If you are interested in volunteering please complete the form at the bottom of this page.

Volunteer benefits include:

  • Volunteer three times and receive a Bike Maryland cotton t-shirt
  • Volunteer five times and receive free admittance to a Bike Maryland bicycle event
  • Volunteer ten times and receive free Bike Maryland membership

Bike-Minded Safety Program Ambassador

Bike-Minded Ambassadors are a step up in commitment from a regular Bike-Minded volunteer. Ambassadors take on a number of responsibilities including instructing independent workshops, creating new community bicycling connections and consistently promoting safe cycling throughout Maryland. Training is required to become a program ambassador.

In order to become an Ambassador, candidates must:

  • Fill out the inquiry form below to learn more
  • Volunteer at three Youth or Adult Safety Workshops
  • Complete the Bike-Minded Safety Program Ambassador class
  • Become a League Certified Instructor
  • Once certified, volunteer at five Youth or Adult Safety Workshops

Ambassador benefits include:

  • Free admittance to all Bike Maryland events
  • Free Bike Maryland membership
  • League Certification Instruction training (a $500 value), sponsored by Bike Maryland
  • Bike Maryland polo shirt
