Have you seen this poster in a Baltimore garage? Be a Bike Friendly DriverMore and more, people riding bicycles are venturing onto Maryland roads. Bikes are used for transportation and recreation by Marylanders young and old. We all have a responsibility to the others on the road with us, and a few simple practices can make you a Bike Friendly Driver. 1. Eyes on the road.  Avoid using hand held devices behind the wheel. 2. Give 3 feet.  Always give people on bicycles 3 feet of space when you pass by them. 3. Slow to pass.  If there is not room to give 3 feet of space, slow down until it is safe to pass. It's that easy to save lives. Take the pledge to be bike friendly, and join the scores who have already done so and are sporting their new Bike Friendly magnet on their vehicles!  It's a clear and friendly way to tell the others on the road that you care about the safety of all road users. Take the Pledge, Get the Magnet! Here's the deal: If you are one of the first 300 people to take the pledge below you will receive a magnet in the mail within 4 weeks (postage provided by private donation).  You will also receive Bike Maryland's monthly email newsletter and be able to keep up with all the latest advocacy and education efforts in our state.  That's it! I will keep my eyes on the road and avoid using hand held devices behind the wheel. I will give 3 feet of space when passing bicycles. I will slow down to pass bicycles.
