Bike Maryland Seeking Education Coordinator

Bike Maryland is seeking a full-time Education Coordinator to manage and develop Bike Maryland’s education services. We are looking for a strong, passionate team player who can maintain and improve our successful record of educating over 10,000 youth and adults annually.

Responsibilities

Coordination of Bike-MINDED Safety Program:

  • Develop curriculum and program benchmarks with Executive Director and Program Director
  • Schedule events and maintain program calendar
  • Monitor and evaluate program success
  • Recruit and train volunteers
  • Build partnerships to grow program
  • Related administrative duties
  • Report on program for website, newsletters and social media
  • Grow program relationships in counties across the state

Coordination the Bicycle Friendly Program:

  • Report on program achievements and progress for website, newsletters and social media
  • Develop outreach materials and implement the Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC) program:
  • Encourage and support jurisdictions in application for League of American Bicyclists BFC certification
  • Ensure that all major municipalities strive for and maintain status
  • Host educational and evaluative workshops for communities
  • Continuing the success of the Bicycle Friendly University (BFU) program:
  • Encourage and support universities and colleges in application for League of American Bicyclists BFU certification
  • Ensure that all universities and college strive for and maintain status
  • Host educational and evaluative workshops for universities and college
  • Developing the Bicycle Friendly Business (BFB) program to
  • Encourage and businesses in application for League of American Bicyclists BFB certification
  • Host educational and evaluative workshops for businesses and chambers of commerce

Producing bicycle education materials including safety instruction, bicycle navigation tools and related materials both online and hard copy.
Develop benchmark goals for number of businesses, universities and communities with Bicycle Friendly status ranking in Maryland with Executive Director
Contribute to program fundraising and diversification of fund sources

Qualifications:
• High-school diploma or equivalent
• Must own or have frequent access to a vehicle with ability to tow trailer (hitch can be installed at a later time)
• Ability to demonstrate bicycle safety knowledge to diverse audiences
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, familiarity with website editing
• Professional graphic design experience a plus
• League Certified Instructor (LCI) (or willingness to become certified, sponsored by Bike Maryland)
• Time management skills; ability to meet goals and schedules in a professional, but flexible work environment

Candidates:

This position will be carried out at the Bike Maryland office with 20% time spent reimbursable travel within Maryland. Salary commensurate with experience.
