MDOT Public Meeting for Bikes Across the Susquehanna

Date: Monday, April 28
Time: 5:00pm - 8:00pm
Location: Havre de Grace Activity Center
Address: 351 Lewis Lane, Havre De Grace, Maryland

PLEASE ATTEND ON MONDAY TO SPEAK OUT FOR PEDESTRIAN AND BIKE ACCESS ACROSS THE SUSQUEHANNA

Crucial Public Meeting Monday, April 28, in Havre de Grace, Maryland

Where the Susquehanna River meets the Chesapeake Bay, it cuts a scenic gorge, lined with parks and historic small towns.

Unfortunately, it also cuts bicycle and pedestrian access from Maryland to Delaware and eastern Pennsylvania — and creates a critical gap in the East Coast Greenway.

There are four bridges from Havre de Grace, Maryland, across to the northeastern corner of Maryland, where it meets Delaware and Pennsylvania. None of these bridges allows bicycle or pedestrian traffic. To cross the Susquehanna under your own power, you must travel 23 miles upstream, into Pennsylvania.

We have an opportunity to change that, and get bicycle and pedestrian access to the Amtrak’s 100-year old Susquehanna River Bridge. The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) has been awarded $22 million to design this bridge’s replacement.

The next opportunity to speak out is this Monday, April 28. MDOT is holding a public information session at the Havre de Grace Activity Center (351 Lewis Lane, Havre de Grace, Md. 21078). The community is invited to attend the fully accessible open house anytime between 5 and 8 p.m. to meet the project team, learn about the project, ask questions and provide feedback.

We need you to speak out for bicycle and pedestrian access at this meeting.
