As a supporter of bicycling in Maryland, you have a stake in promoting safer streets, building more bike friendly infrastructure, and representing the interests of all who bike for transportation and recreation. To help achieve those goals at the state level, Bike Maryland has been your organization to make that happen. Bike Maryland is now recruiting new members for its Board of Directors. Bike Maryland is looking for enthusiastic individuals who will help frame the organization's fundraising and advocacy plans for the future. We currently need to fill the position of treasurer and up to six other at-large board positions. Applicants are expected to attend monthly Board meetings, help out on pushing legislation during the January-April legislative session, and to support a fundraising and advocacy strategy for Bike Maryland. If you are interested in applying to be on the Bike Maryland Board of Directors, please send brief written responses to the questions below to chair@bikemd.org. - First, we ask you to review the Board Member Description
- Then, provide short written answers to the following questions:
- Briefly explain why you are interested in serving on the Bike Maryland Board of Directors
- Why do you feel it is important to help fulfill Bike Maryland’s mission to make bicycling a safe form of transportation for all ages throughout the state?
- What qualities do you bring to this important job? (refer to position description here)
- Describe your prior experience on any nonprofit organizational board you have or are currently serving on
- Describe any fundraising experience you have had
- What advocacy experience (related to bicycling, active transportation and on other issues) do you have, locally and on a State level?
